The factor is exact. A psi is one pound-force over one square inch, both exactly defined, giving 6894.757293168 Pa; a bar is defined as exactly 100,000 Pa.

Car tyres
This is the conversion’s main job. Tyre placards in the US and much of Asia are in psi; European cars and pumps use bar, and the numbers people remember are in whichever they grew up with:

32 psi is 2.2 bar is the single pairing worth memorising.
Tyre pressure is a gauge pressure — the excess over atmospheric — so a tyre at 32 psi holds about 46.7 psi absolute. Converting the number does not change that.

Road bike pressures are the ones where the two scales feel most different: 100 psi sounds like a lot and 6.9 bar sounds like a little, and they are the same.
Other units on the same gauge
Many gauges in Taiwan and Japan carry a kgf/cm² scale beside the psi one. It is close enough to bar to be mistaken for it:

1 kgf/cm² is 0.980665 bar — about 2% lower. Reading a kgf/cm² scale as bar under-inflates by roughly 2%, which is within most tolerances but is not nothing.
Estimating in your head
Divide by 14.5, or divide by 15 and add 3%. 32 ÷ 15 is 2.13 against a true 2.21 bar. Even simpler: halve it and shift the decimal — 32 becomes 1.6, then add a third to get 2.13.
