The formula
TB = GB ÷ 1000
In SI units a terabyte is a thousand gigabytes. Storage manufacturers use exactly this definition, so it is the right one for anything to do with drive capacity.
If a source means binary units, the divisor is 1024 — and at this scale the two answers differ by 2.4%, on top of the 7.4% already baked into calling 2³⁰ bytes a gigabyte. See GB to GiB.

The last row is why storage requirements have grown so fast: a single current-generation game can occupy a tenth of a terabyte, and the same drive that held a decade of music holds ten games.

Each has an IEC counterpart — PiB, EiB, ZiB — and at these scales the binary and decimal figures diverge by 12.6%, 15.3% and 18.1% respectively. The higher the prefix, the more the choice matters.
Estimating in your head
Move the decimal point three places. 3500 GB is 3.5 TB. As with every conversion in this category, the arithmetic is trivial and the only real question is which system the number came from.
