What this reads
The format section reports the container, codec, duration, bitrate, sample rate, channel count and whether the stream describes itself as lossless. These facts come from the file structure rather than the filename extension.
The tags section reads common title, artist, album, date, track, disc and genre fields. It also shows the first embedded cover image when one exists. Different formats store these in different systems—ID3 in MP3, atoms in M4A, Vorbis comments in Ogg or FLAC—but the useful fields are shown together.
Missing tags are not an error
An audio file can play perfectly with no title or artist stored inside it. A filename such as
interview-final.mp3 is not metadata unless a player guesses from the name. This Tool reports only
what the file actually contains.
Metadata can also be wrong or stale. Changing a filename does not rewrite embedded tags, and copying audio between editors can leave old cover art or album fields behind.
No decoding and no upload
Reading tags does not turn the whole recording into raw PCM, so this Tool remains practical for a long file. The file and its artwork are read in this page and are never uploaded.
